Michael K. Farr

Michael K. Farr is Chairman of FarrCrest Capital LLC, a private family-office dedicated to long-term stewardship, disciplined investing, and the thoughtful preservation of generational wealth. Mr. Farr was the founder of Farr, Miller & Washington, a Washington, D.C.–based wealth management firm he established in 1996. Over nearly three decades, he guided families, institutions, and fiduciaries through multiple market cycles, economic crises, and periods of profound innovation, building a reputation for prudent risk management, independent thinking, and client-first counsel. He formerly served as Chief Market Strategist for Hightower Advisors, where he provided market insight and strategic perspective to advisors and clients nationwide. The longest-serving contributor to CNBC and a highly sought-after speaker, Mr. Farr focuses on investing, markets, retirement, economic policy, and the Federal Reserve. He has presented nationally and internationally alongside Federal Reserve presidents, senior policymakers, and leading economic and financial thinkers. Mr. Farr is the award-winning author of three books: A Million Is Not Enough (2008), The Arrogance Cycle (2011), and Restoring Our American Dream: The Best Investment (2013). His writing and commentary emphasize disciplined capitalism, long-term thinking, and the responsibility that accompanies economic success. Mr. Farr is the 2026 recipient of the University of Delaware’s prestigious James B. O’Neil Award for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Farr has long been deeply engaged in civic and philanthropic leadership. He is Chairman of HEROES Inc., which supports the spouses and children of law enforcement officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty in the greater Washington, D.C. region. He founded the Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation and has served as a trustee of Sibley Memorial Hospital since 2004. His prior service includes leadership and board roles with numerous charitable, educational, and cultural institutions. Mr. Farr is a graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Robert F. Farr
President, FarrCrest Capital
Robert is the President of FarrCrest Capital, where he oversees the firm’s strategic direction, investment philosophy, and client relationships. He brings a multidisciplinary background spanning portfolio management, financial analysis, and operational leadership. Prior to FarrCrest Capital, Robert served as a portfolio manager at Farr, Miller & Washington, which he joined in 2022 as an associate client portfolio manager.
Earlier in his career, he spent seven years as a contracts and pricing analyst, focusing on proposal development, supply chain strategy, and contract negotiation. During the final three years of that tenure, he held a management role supporting both government and private sector clients. Mr. Farr earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the College of Charleston with a concentration in finance and equity analysis. His passion for stocks and long-term investing can best be described as genetic.
Kyle Haesler
Senior Research & AI Strategist
Kyle brings experience across investment banking, public markets investing, systematic trading, and software development, spanning both traditional financial analysis and modern data-driven research. He began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Jefferies in New York City, advising on transactions across the Consumer, Technology, Media, and Industrial sectors. Following investment banking, Kyle worked as an independent investor and trader, conducting fundamental equity research and implementing strategies that combined fundamental and technical analysis. More recently, his work has focused on systematic futures trading and data-driven research, designing and testing rule-based strategies using Python and historical market data, alongside backend Python development and data transformation workflows as a Data Engineering Consultant. He also completed a Software Engineering program focused on modern application development and data systems.
Amidst the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, Kyle is uniquely qualified and experienced to bring a confluence of investment experience and understanding of fundamentals in order to leverage the greatest benefits for FarrCrest clients. Kyle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Miami University’s Farmer School of Business, where he graduated summa cum laude and received the J. Belden Dennison Award, presented to the top graduates of the class.
Helen Bertholf
Executive Assistant
Helen brings more than a decade of experience supporting senior leadership in the investment advisory industry. She joined Farr, Miller & Washington in 2014 as Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, where she brought a strong foundation in corporate administration and executive support. 
Helen is exceptional in her attention to detail, but her greatest strength is her caring and responsiveness to clients. At FarrCrest, Helen continues to play a key role in supporting firm leadership and day-to-day operations. 
She is a lifelong Washington, DC native and alumna of Georgetown University.
